Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) participated in the Indonesia - Africa Infrastructure Dialogue forum which took place in Bali on August 20-21, 2019.

Indonesia - Africa Infrastructure Dialogue itself was opened by President Joko Widodo this afternoon. The Head of State also delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the forum.

The AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin will be one of the speakers in the Panel Session on August 21, 2019.

This forum, among others, aims to strengthen relations between Indonesia and African countries in various fields including infrastructure. In total, there were 53 countries in Africa invited to attend Bali.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said the Indonesia-Africa forum was an appropriate venue for Angkasa Pura II to explore business opportunities in new markets.

Muhammad Awaluddin explained Angkasa Pura II as the airport manager has advantages that are summarized into 3E namely Experience, Expertise and Expansion, so that they are able to work on the global market optimally.

In terms of experience, Angkasa Pura II has 35 years of experience managing airports and now oversees 16 airports in Indonesia. Last year, Angkasa Pura II served 115 million passengers.

Meanwhile related to Expertise, Angkasa Pura II is currently the industry leader following a number of innovations including digitalization of services at the airport and to travelers during pre-journey, on-journey and post-journey.

In addition, Angkasa Pura II also has expertise in expanding flight connectivity at airports in order to accelerate the growth of tourism and the local economy.

Then from the Expansion side, Angkasa Pura II proved capable of carrying out various infrastructure developments at airports such as the construction of Soekarno-Hatta Terminal 3, the New Terminal at Supadio Pontianak, the Sultan Thaha Jambi New Terminal, the Raja Haji Fisabilillah Tanjung Pinang New Terminal, and so on.

Angkasa Pura II also became the first in RI to present a mode of public transportation that can be operated unmanned, namely the elevated train or the Skytrain at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"Angkasa Pura II has experience managing and developing 16 airports in Indonesia including Soekarno-Hatta which is one of the busiest airports in the world. We want to expand the market to other countries so that Angkasa Pura II will not only excel in the domestic market, but also carry the fragrance of Indonesia's name at the global level. "

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin explained that in Angkasa Pura II the priority market in Africa is in Capacity Building Projects (airport management) and supports Construction Project Investments (construction projects) both in aero and non-aero businesses.

At Capacity Building, Angkasa Pura II will help African countries to improve their skills, knowledge, use of equipment and other resources in airport management.

In this initial phase Angkasa Pura II has identified 7 potential airports for Capacity Building namely in South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco and Algeria.

Meanwhile related to Construction Project Investments, Angkasa Pura II explores opportunities to engage in airport development on the land side and air side to support aero and non-aero businesses.

There are 9 airports that are considered potential related to the Construction Project Investment, namely in Egypt, Ethiopia, Angola, Tanzania, Sudan, South Africa, Rwanda, Burkina Faso and Zambia.

Muhammad Awaluddin said the airport sector in Africa was developing by opening up jobs for 7 million people, and the investment value for the new airport reached US $ 25 billion based on data from the CAPA - Center for Aviation.
