Tangerang - The addition of trains to the skytrain facilities of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has been carried out. Now, the facility that connects the airport train with terminals 1, 2 and 3 has a carrying capacity of up to 352 passengers.
PT Angkasa Pura II's President Director, Muhammad Awaluddin, revealed that the addition of these trainset was in line with the company's target to increase the skytrain's carrying capacity, which is increasingly attractive to both domestic and international passengers. Next is the operation of full OCC (Operation Command Center) to speed up the headway of skytrain, "Awaluddin explained.
The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport skytrain operating system is currently still operated with a maximum speed that can be reached 30km / hour with a 15-minute headway and only requires 1 minute to reduce / increase passengers. In the future this skytrain will be operated with a 5 minute headway. Awaluddin targets that by the end of 2018 the increase in headway will be ready. "Of course we continue to conduct studies and evaluations for this system. Passenger safety is always our top priority. Our target is at the end of 2018, the skytrain headway will be 5 minutes," Awaluddin concluded.
The addition of trains on the skytrain also coincides with the biggest Asian sports event, the 2018 Asian Games. Recorded a total of athletes and officials present in Jakarta and Palembang as many as 16 thousand people consisting of 45 countries. The presence of these additional trainset also helped smooth the mobilization of athletes and officials who made the transit process to move flights to Palembang.
The Skytrain itself is an unmanned mode of transportation using the first guideway transit system in Indonesia. Currently skytrain operates with dual tracks on a 3km track. In the future skytrain will also be extended to the terminal 4 and also the commercial area at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
