Adding Electricity Supply, PT Angkasa Pura II Cooperates with PT Bukit Asam to Build Solar Power Plants

Tangerang, September 2018 - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) in synergy with PT Bukit Asam (Tbk) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) where PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) was represented by Operation Djoko Murjatmodjo and Director of Engineering and PT Bukit Asam (Tbk) is represented by the Director of Business Development, Fuad IZ Fachroeddin.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding took place at the PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Head Office located at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport as well as a form of mutually beneficial strategic cooperation.

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) 's Director of Engineering and Operation Djoko Murjatmodjo said, "Alternative and renewable energy is needed by PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) to support the use of very large PLN electricity. By looking at the cost impact of high electricity usage, then if there is a source of electricity that is cheaper than PLN, it can be considered to use alternative electricity in achieving airport operating efficiency. In the future, PKS will be continued with commercial aspects in it. "

Arviyan Arifin, Managing Director of PT Bukit Asam (Tbk), said, "The signing of this MoU is the first step in the synergy between PT Angkasa Pura II and PT Bukit Asam, hopefully everything will go smoothly until the cooperation agreement will later."

PT Angkasa Pura II is bound by world emission standard regulations in airport management, and seeks to implement environmentally friendly airport operations, one of which is to plan cooperation with PT Bukit Asam in the application of more efficient alternative power sources, namely Solar Power Plants. Not only that, PT Angkasa Pura II also uses an electric car on the operational side of the airport's PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) airport as a form of corporate participation in protecting the environment.

PT Angkasa Pura II's President Director, Muhammad Awaluddin said "The use of this Solar Power Plant is a corporate step as a form of participation in protecting the environment and to become an Eco Friendly Airport by using new and renewable alternative energy sources besides fossil fuel."

Not only that, as a pilot project in the implementation of Eco Friendly Airport, PT Angkasa Pura II also uses technology with alternative energy sources such as the use of solar panels for street lighting and later it will use electric buses for the airport operations of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero).
