Acceleration of Radin Inten II Airport Development, Angkasa Pura II Increases Synergy with Lampung Provincial Government

Lampung - Angkasa Pura II visited the Lampung Provincial Government to increase synergy in order to accelerate the development of Radin Inten II Airport, Lampung, Monday (25/3).

Met at his office, Governor of Lampung M. Ridho Ficardo welcomed the visit of the Director of Angkasa Pura II and his entourage. Ridho said that he would give full support to Angkasa Pura II for the smooth development of Radin Inten II Airport. Ridho said, "According to the President's instructions the other day that the development of Radin Inten II Airport must be accelerated, both on the air and on the land side. In addition, supporting transportation from and to the airport must also be prepared. Like trains and other transportation alternatives. Hopefully with the more advanced airport, we will present aerocity. I hope that later Radin Inten II Airport after being managed by AP II can advance the economy of Lampung Province, "Ridho said.

As mandated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to the Minister of Transportation that the management of Radin Inten II Airport will be handed over to Angkasa Pura II. The hope is that in the near future it can serve international flights. With the presence of international flights, regional economic growth can grow and can increase Radin Inten II Airport occupancy.

Besides that, according to Awaluddin, meeting with the regional government was considered important as an effort to obtain full support for Angkasa Pura II in developing new airports. "Previously we thanked the Governor of Lampung for supporting the process of accelerating the development of Radin Inten II Airport. We all agree that the potential that exists in Lampung is very promising, so this synergy must continue to be improved. AP II does not only coordinate with the Provincial Government but also with stakeholders both at the central and regional levels. "At present we are doing a parallel acceleration starting from the handover of operating permits and the acceleration of the construction of the airport itself," Awaluddin explained.

The current Radin Inten II Airport is currently managed by the Airport Organizing Unit (UPBU) under the Ministry of Transportation. Now it has entered the process of verifying state property assets. "Hopefully the verification process will be completed as soon as possible. So we hope we can manage it in the near future, "concluded Awaluddin.

Radin Inten II Airport is equipped with a runway with a dimension of 2,770 x 45 m, with an apron area reaching 43,600 square meters to accommodate 8 aircraft stand parking. By having a terminal area of ​​9,650 square meters, Radin Inten II Airport can accommodate 3.7 million passengers per year with passenger movements reaching more than 2.6 million passengers per year. It was recorded in 2018 the movement of cargo was 5,859 tons per year.

In the future, AP II predicts the development of Radin Inten II Airport to reach Rp 467 billion for a period of 30 years. The planned development includes operational supporting infrastructure such as expansion and renovation of cargo buildings, development of special electric substations, construction of road access, construction of CCR operational buildings and power quality, as well as other supporting facilities. Angkasa Pura II, together with the Lampung Provincial Government, also plans to collaborate with local government-owned land. 

Furthermore, AP II is working on the concept of aerocity in the form of the concept of developing an area where airports become a magnet for business development in a region. This is believed to be able to boost flight traffic to an area. Business development in question includes the development of commercial area businesses, MRO (maintennance, repair & overhoul), cargo warehousing, then other supporting facilities including the property business.
