President Jokowi Asks AP II to Manage Radin Inten II Lampung Airport Immediately

Jakarta - President Joko Widodo today, Friday, March 8, 2019, inaugurated Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung.

On that occasion the Head of State was accompanied by Ms. Iriana Joko Widodo, and Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Director General of Air Transportation Polana B. Pramesti, and Head of Airport Radin Inten II Asep Kosasih and President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin.

After signing the inauguration inscription, Jokowi told journalists that the management of Radin Inten II Airport should be submitted as quickly as possible to PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero).

"Just submitted to AP II for faster management, development," said the President.

In addition, the President continued, the management by AP II will bring more domestic and international flights at Radin Inten II Airport.

"Management by AP II will make more flights," said the Head of State.

The current Radin Inten II Airport is still managed by the Airport Operator Unit (UPBU) under the Ministry of Transportation.

In August 2018, UPBU Ministry of Transportation and AP II have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the handover of the management of Radin Inten II Airport.

Director General of Civil Aviation Polana B. Pramesti said that currently the process of surrendering the management of Radin Inten II Airport to AP II had entered the stage of verification of State Property assets.

"The development will be carried out by AP II because now in the process of asset verification for the management of Cooperation in the Use of State-Owned Goods, it is expected that AP II will later invest," said Director General of Air Transportation.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that it was hoped that in the near future the discussion on the management of the airport could be completed.

"In the near future we hope that AP II can immediately become the manager of Radin Inten II Airport. We have prepared various development plans including expansion of passenger terminals, "said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin.

"The amount of investment that has been prepared for the development of Radin Inten II Airport for the next 30 years, we estimate Rp500 billion, including the expansion of aircraft passenger terminals."

Especially for passenger terminals, the development will be carried out in 2019 to 2020 with an investment of around Rp 150 billion. The passenger terminal of Radin Inten II Airport itself currently has an area of ​​5,000 square meters.

The airport is also equipped with runways measuring 3,000 x 45 m, with an apron area reaching 59,950 square meters to accommodate 8 aircraft stand parking. At present the terminal capacity of Raden Inten II Airport reaches 3.7 million passengers per year with passenger movements above 2 million passengers per year.

In the future, AP II will also develop operational supporting infrastructure such as expansion and renovation of cargo buildings, construction of special electric substations, construction of road access, construction of CCR and Power Quality operational buildings, and so on.

Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung is one of the airports that will be submitted to AP II this year, in addition to HAS Hanandjoeddin in Belitung and Fatmawati Soekarno in Bengkulu with a pattern of management of the same cooperation in the use of state-owned goods.

With the addition of 3 airports managed, then in 2019 AP II will handle a total of 19 airports in Indonesia. AP II is currently targeting airport management in one Southeast Asian country.
