Husein Sastranegara International Airport

Husein Sastranegara International Airport (English: Husein Sastranegara International Airport) (IATA: BDO, ICAO: WICC) is an international airport located on Jalan Pajajaran Nomor. 156, Husen Sastranegara village, Cicendo sub-district, Bandung (capital of West Java province).

At first Husein Sastranegara Airport is a relic of the Dutch East Indies Government called Andir Field, which is a name of the location where the airport is located. The name Husein Sastranegara was taken from the name of an Air Force military pilot who had died during flight training in Yogyakarta on September 26, 1946. During the Japanese occupation the area was made the base of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force.

In 1920 the Dutch established an airfield named Luchtvaart Afdeling or Vliegveld Andir. After 1942, the airport was then taken over by Japan until 1945. When Indonesia was independent, the condition of the airfield at that time had experienced a vacuum from 1945 to 1949. After that, the airport was taken over by the Air Force as a military base from 1969 to 1973. Until finally in 1973 the airport could be used for commercial flights.

In 1974 traffic activities and commercial air transport were officially carried out, namely by the establishment of the Representative Office of the Directorate General of Air Transportation with the name Husein sastranegara Bandung Air Station for the benefit of commercial civil aviation activities. Then in 1983 based on the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number: KM 68 / HK 207 / PHB-83 dated February 19, 1983, the classification of the Airport Port was increased from class III to class II. In 1994 a transfer of airport management was carried out from the Ministry of Transportation to PT. Angkasa Pura II pursuant to PP RI Number 26 Year 1994 dated 30 August 1994 concerning the Addition of Republic of Indonesia's Capital Participation into PT. Angkasa Pura II.
