Soekarno Hatta International Airport

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (English: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport) (IATA: CGK, ICAO: WIII) abbreviated as SHIA or Cengkareng Airport with IATA pointer "CGK", is a major airport serving flights for Jakarta, Indonesia . The airport is named after the bilingual name of the Indonesian independence proclamator, Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta, who is also the first President and Deputy President of Indonesia. The popular name in the community is Cengkareng Airport because it is close to the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta, even though it is geographically located in Benda district, Tangerang City.

The airport began operations in 1985, replacing Kemayoran Airport (domestic flights) in Central Jakarta, and Halim Perdanakusuma in East Jakarta. Kemayoran Airport has been closed, while Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport is still operating, serving charter and military flights. Terminal 2 opened in 1992.

Soekarno-Hatta has an area of ​​18 km², has 2 parallel runways separated by 2 taxiways along 2.4 km. There are two main terminal buildings: Terminal 1 for all domestic flights except flights operated by Garuda Indonesia and Terminal 2 serving all international flights except Garuda flights.

Terminal 1 is the first terminal built, completed in 1985. Located on the south side of the airport, opposite Terminal 2. Terminal 1 has 3 sub-terminals, each equipped with 25 check-in counters, 5 luggage counters and 7 gates. It has the capacity to handle 9 million passengers per year. Each terminal building is divided into 3 concourses. Terminals 1A, 1B and 1C. used (mostly) for domestic flights by local airlines. Terminal 1A serves flights by Lion Air (Except Sumatra and Bali), and Wings Air. Terminal 1B serves Lion Air flights (specifically Sumatra and Bali). While terminal 1C serves flights by Batik Air Domestik and Citilink Domestic. The gate in Terminal 1 has the prefixes A, B and C. The gate is A1-A7, B1-B7 and C1-C7. In the new plan, Terminal 1 will have an increased capacity to 18 million passengers per year

2D and 2E terminals are used to service all international flights except Garuda Indonesia. 2D terminal for all foreign airlines served by PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta, one of the airport's land crews. Terminals 2E and 2F for international flights for local airlines.

Terminal 3 was completed on April 15, 2009. Terminal 3 will be used temporarily by low-cost airlines. Currently there are 2 airlines that use Terminal 3 namely Indonesia AirAsia and Mandala Airlines. And it is planned to be able to land an Airbus A380 model aircraft. SHIA made the first landing of the A380 (SQ-232) aircraft on May 4, 2012 even though the landing status itself was diverted landing. When the completion of Terminal 3 has been opened, all Garuda Indonesia flights will move to Terminal 3 and the old airline will return to its original location.

The airport was designed by French architect Paul Andreu, who also designed Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France. One of the airport's great characteristics is its local architectural style, and tropical gardens among the lounge lounges.

Terminal 1 is the first terminal of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport which operates domestic flights except Garuda Indonesia because they operate domestic flights at Terminal 2. Terminal 2, which was completed in 1992, is located on the north side of the airport, opposite Terminal 1. Terminal 2 has 3 sub-terminals, each equipped with 25 check-in outlets, 5 baggage collection (8 units in subterminal D and E) and 7 gates. The gate in Terminal 2 has the letters D, E, and F. The gate is D1-D7, E1-E7, and F1-F7. At present Terminal 2 has a capacity of 9 million passengers per year and will be developed to 19 million passengers per year.

On November 28, 2011, Garuda Indonesia and Angkasa Pura II made a memorandum of understanding regarding management of Terminals 2E and 2F, which will only be used by Garuda Indonesia to anticipate the ASEAN Open Sky Policy in 2015. Terminal 2E will be used for international travel and Terminal 2F for flights domestic. Garuda Indonesia said that it would share using its International Terminal with other SkyTeam members when Garuda Indonesia effectively joined in 2014. Predicted domestic transfer time is 30 minutes for domestic and no more than 45 minutes for international passengers. Currently the Sky Team has 12 members, but not all of them have flown to Indonesia.

The first phase of terminal 3, which consists of the first of the two development phases planned, was opened on April 15, 2009. The terminal adopted a different design from terminals 1 and 2, using the eco-friendly and modern concept. Terminal 3 is located east of Terminal 2. At present, Terminal 3 is the base for Air Asia, Mandala Airlines and Lion Air. With a capacity of 4 million passengers per year, Terminal 3 now has 30 check-in outlets, 6 baggage claim, and 3 gates. Development of Terminal 3 will be designed in the form of 'U' with a total capacity of 25 million passengers per year.

Terminal 3 has been officially opened for international flights on November 15, 2011 when Indonesia AirAsia began using Terminal 3, therefore it has become a new base for international flights together with domestic and international AirAsia flights. Transfers between terminals will be minimized. Lion Air started using Terminal 3 starting March 30, 2012, a number of routes will be served from Terminal 3 by Lion Air, namely Jakarta to Denpasar, Bima, Tambolaka, Maumere, Ende, and Labuan Bajo. the transfer of part of the flight was due to a request from Lion Air passengers. Meanwhile, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) as the owner of airport facilities, finally allowed Lion Air to occupy Terminal 3. On August 9, 2016 at 00.00 Terminal 3 Ultimate was opened. All Garuda Indonesia flights, both Departures and Domestic Arrivals, are moved operationally from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3.

Terminal 3 is equipped with BHS level 5 to detect bombs, an Airport Security System (ASS) which can control up to 600 CCTVs to detect faces available in the security register, the Intelligence Building Management System (IBMS) that can control water and electricity usage ( ecogreen), a rainwater system to produce clean water from rain, a recycled water system to produce toilet water from used toilet water, and control illumination technology to illuminate the terminal depending on the weather around the terminal. Terminal 3 will be able to serve 60 aircraft from 40 aircraft at this time.

The plan, Terminal 4 will be north of Terminal 3, and is northeast of Terminal 2 which is still north of the airport. Terminal 4 will be built in the 4th stage. This terminal will be designed in the form of 'H' and uses an eco-friendly and modern design, just like the design of Terminal 3. Construction of Terminal 4 will begin in 2013 with the start of land acquisition around the north of the airport.

The Cargo Terminal is located on the east side of Terminal 1. This terminal is used to handle cargo at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, both domestic and international cargo. In its latest plan, the Cargo Terminal will be moved to the west side of Terminal 2 with a capacity greater than the current Cargo Terminal capacity.
